Abigail Parrish - Online Portfolio

Hello, and welcome to my online portfolio! My name is Abigail Parrish, and I’m excited to share both my professional aspirations and personal interests with you. This website serves as a space to showcase the projects I’ve worked on, as well as an example portfolio for the students in the Introduction to Informatics (I101) lab I teach. A key component of I101 involves learning the fundamentals of HTML and CSS to build a personal website. I wanted to create a real-world example to inspire my students. This site is built entirely with HTML and CSS and is best viewed on a desktop. In the future, I plan to develop a more sophisticated version using a web builder platform to enhance both functionality and design. Education & Experience

I am a second-year student at Indiana University Bloomington’s Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. I am actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Informatics with a minor in Business. I’m on track to complete my degree in three years, which currently makes me a Junior. My experience includes internships in Information Technology and Information Security, along with leadership oriented roles as President Elect for Women in Computing and an Undergraduate Instructor for Introduction to Informatics (INFO-I 101). I was recently accepted into Serve IT; a highly competitive Luddy program that provides technology solutions for local non-profits. As part of the Teach IT team, I will be volunteering at after school programs and nursing homes to teach tech related skills. For more details on my professional background, please see my resume. In the future, I hope to combine both my technology and business skills in a project management role.

Hobbies & Interests

Staying active and healthy is one of my biggest passions in life. From 3rd to 12th grade I was a competitive swimmer for Fort Wayne Swim Team. I also swam for Carroll High School freshman through senior year. At IU, I love going to the recreation center and swimming with my friends. I am also a member of Changing Health, Actions, + Attitudes for Girls (CHAARG). CHAARG is a women’s workout club at IU. Every Monday we go to a different gym in the Bloomington area and attend a workout class. A new hobby of mine is meal prepping. Between school and work, I don’t have a lot of time to make healthy meals on the go. Meal prepping allows me to keep my gut healthy and save money! Another hobby of mine is reading. I recently read It's Your Ship by Caption D. Michael Abrashoff. I highly suggest this book to anyone interested in growing their leadership skills.

Fun Facts

I am the oldest of 5 children, and I used to nanny in the summer time!

I'm also lifeguard and CPR certified. During the 2022 and 2023 Summers, I lifegaurded at a local country club.
